Urban Nomad Adventure had a serendipitous start in 2017. Our founder, Apurva Dutta, was on a casual vacation to Pondicherry when the opportunity to start a dive centre presented itself through an old friend. An adventurer at heart, he said yes without hesitation. The spur of the moment decision, fuelled by a lifelong relationship with water, marked the beginning of Urban Nomad.
As a former national-level springboard diver and scholarship athlete at the Australian Institute of Sports, water had always been his second home. But it was the ocean where he found a true sense of belonging, where thrill met serenity, and passion evolved into purpose and community.
What started as a spontaneous journey has today evolved into a thriving dive school and adventure company built on years of learning, resilience, and a deep commitment to quality. Over the last eight years, we have had the privilege of introducing over 8000 people to the underwater world, teaching more than 900 students, and shaping the careers of many dive professionals.
As a brand, our journey has shaped our values. It has inculcated in us a deep respect for nature and helped us build a safety-first mindset, while maintaining our commitment to sustainable, inclusive ocean tourism. From working in collaboration with local fishermen to pioneering marine awareness programs in schools, our mission is as much about impact as it is about adventure and creating unforgettable experiences.
